Living the Blues

During the first week of 2018, I attended the Transom Traveling Workshop, a week-long class in NPR-style radio storytelling. I worked alongside a group of incredibly talented students as we learned at the feet of master audio storyteller Rob Rosenthal in the studios of Nashville Public Radio.

My piece focuses on the extraordinary musician and Nashville local, Doug Jones. Over the last few decades, Doug has had to readjust to losing his sight and the use of his legs. But he has transformed each experience of loss into new and unexpected opportunities to feel music more deeply – in his body and throughout his life.

You can find Doug’s music at blindwillymusic.com.
